Howard Physical Therapy Staff

Mark Howard, PT, DPT, OCS

After graduating in 1986 with his Physical Therapy degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Mark practiced in acute care, orthopedics and neurological rehabilitation at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital before moving into private practice. Prior to opening his own clinic, Mark was a partner and Senior Therapist with a large regional outpatient Physical Therapy for 25 years. During that time, he also served as the Director of the Buffalo Industrial Work Hardening Center, one of the first industrial rehabilitation facilities in Western New York.

In 1995, Mark became one of the first Board Certified Specialists in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in Western New York. This certification requires extensive clinical experience and demonstration of advanced knowledge through successful completion of advanced clinical testing. In 2005, Mark continued his academic training by successfully fulfilling the requirement for his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Over the past 26 years, Mark has served as a Clinical Instructor for students from Daemen, D’Youville and SUNY Buffalo, and has served in a faculty position at SUNY Buffalo, teaching a variety of Physical Therapy courses including Orthopedic Evaluation and Treatment. Most recently, Mark has served as a Test Writer for the National Orthopedic Specialty Certification Exam.

Mark was selected by Buffalo Business First in 2012 as a “Top 50 Healthcare Provider” and in 2016 as a "Top Physical Therapy Facility."

Kathleen M. Howard, P.T.

Kathleen graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Ithaca College. After supervising exercise programs in an outpatient therapy setting, she returned to school to complete her Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2002. During the past 10 years, Kathleen has worked in several outpatient clinics throughout Western New York, treating a wide array of orthopedic and neurological conditions. More recently, she provided physical therapy to patients in their homes though a local home care agency until making the change back to the outpatient setting .

In addition to working with orthopedic and neurological patients at Howard Physical Therapy, Kathleen, who has advanced training in the area of Balance Disorder, oversees the Falls Prevention Program at Howard Physical Therapy and provides evaluation & treatment for dizziness / vertigo related to disorders of the vestibular (inner ear) system.
Jill Mikulec, PT 

A graduate of the University of Buffalo Physical Therapy Program, Jill has nearly 20 years of clinical experience from which to draw upon when working with the patients of Howard Physical Therapy. Since graduating, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings, treating many different types of conditions and injuries, including spine, sports and general orthopedics. Highly skilled in both exercise prescription and therapeutic modalities (including cold laser) Jill excels in the application of manual therapy techniques.
Sara Wozniak, PT, DPT

Sara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Studies from D’Youville College prior to joining the front office staff of Howard Physical Therapy. She is continued her education by pursuing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy which she received in 2016. Sara has an interest in sports orthopedics, having played collegiate basketball for four years and serving as the team captain in her final year. Sara currently works full-time providing pediatric physical therapy during the day while continuing to provide outpatient services evenings and weekends at Howard Physical Therapy.
Jessica Thoman, PTA
Jess is a graduate of Villa Maria College’s Physical Therapist Assistant program, where she graduated with high honors and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Jess has a wide variety of clinical interests, including manual therapy procedures, and excels at providing one-on-one care with our patients. Jess has been certified as a Graston provider offering instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization techniques. 
Marissa McMahon
Marissa joined Howard Physical as a receptionist and is now responsible for a variety of administrative responsibilities related to scheduling and billing.

She is currently pursuing her Masters in Speech Therapy at SUNY Buffalo.
Her interests include running, volleyball and horseback riding.
Samantha Haag, PTA

Sam graduated from D'Youville College with a Bachelors in Health Service Management before joining Howard Physical Therapy in 2012. Sam then returned to school to pursue her degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Following graduation in 2014 she worked in at a local physical therapy practice developing advanced manual therapy skills including "cupping" and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM.) Sam returned to Howard Physical Therapy as PTA in 2016.
