Weight Loss is Different for Everyone

Whenever our patients come to us for a fitness evaluation, it’s usually because they’re all feeling the same way: “I have been exercising for months and just can’t seem to lose the weight.” It’s not uncommon for some people to join a gym and quit within just a few weeks. Getting the right motivation is key when you’re just starting out, which is why at Howard Physical Therapy PLLC, we offer a fitness evaluation.

With our program, we focus more on core strength, blood pressure, flexibility and aerobic energy and cholesterol, rather than weight loss. We find that keeping track of these aspects of fitness is more important than the number on the scale. We use a variety of fitness tests to determine your overall fitness profile and evaluation. This information offers a reference point for determining what kinds of goals you should be setting.

Helping You Help Yourself

It doesn’t matter what kind of exercise you do already; our fitness evaluation will give you recommendations that point you in the right direction. We want you to know important aspects of your workout that aren’t just how sore you feel after. We’ll teach you what your heart rate should be, how much you should be lifting, how many repetitions you require, and which part of your body you should be focusing on. 

Before you start with our program, we have a few questions you’ll need to be prepared to answer upon your visit: 
  • How do you know if your program is working?
  • What if your weight has not dropped much since starting your program?
  • Are you wasting your time? 
You’ll need to be dedicated and make sure you keep track of your fitness profile on a regular basis. Keeping tabs on your blood pressure is more important to us than weight loss.
